Philadelphia Stand Down is a non-profit volunteer organization formed to provide assistance to homeless veterans. Serving veterans from the five counties in the Delaware Valley since 1994, our goal has been to bring these veterans to a central location where a myriad of services can be provided. With the help of various organizations including the Veterans Administration and Military and Civilian Service Organizations we provide the veterans with resources to help them become self-sufficient and provide them with the necessary tools for continued success. Although our emphasis is on helping homeless veterans, any veteran needing assistance will be welcomed.
Since we rely on the generosity of others to continue our mission, we welcome any donations regardless of the amount. We also need volunteers to help with our event. We try to honor the requests of volunteers to work in a specific area, but you may be assigned to other areas where there is a greater need. We ask for your cooperation in this matter and thank you for your understanding.
Our Mission Statement "By our actions, we will strive to exceed the expectations of those we serve".
Donations can be sent to: PHILADELPHIA STAND DOWN 520 Quincy Avenue, Penndel, PA 19047-7563. They are very much appreciated. http://www.philastanddown.org/
Over a three day weekend participants are required to avail themselves of the services offered and in return they are provided with food, clothing and shelter. Our goal is to put ourselves out of business by eliminating the existence of homelessness for veterans and their families.
