Rolling Thunder®, Inc. has long supported Philadelphia Stand Down by handling the feeding of the homeless veterans during their three day stay. Three meals a day plus an evening snack.
There are many volunteers, some who come year after year to lean a hand, and some who have been able to help for the first time. All walk away with a feeling of warmth, hope and pride, because they have given of ‘themselves’.

Philadelphia Stand Down is set up as a temporary tent city, that is a drug, alcohol, violence, and police free zone designed to gain veteran trust, and participation, and to gain Friendship Hope and Pride.
Many home town celebrities stop by to say hello to the Vets during Stand Down. Jim Murray sporting his Super Bowl ring is the co-founder of the Ronald McDonald House and a former General Manager of the Philadelphia Eagles.

As the daughter of a disabled Vietnam veteran, I have seen firsthand the challenges that face our nation's veterans and know that they can often lead to homelessness. Such challenges may includes problems with drugs and alcohol abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and difficulty maintaining marriage or relationships. Miss America 2000 Heather Renee French.
