''We Will Never Forget''

Arthur T. Foss, President & Charter Member of Rolling Thunder® Inc. VA Chapter 3

Art Foss lost his fight early Sunday morning, September 12, 2010. He was a prominent member of Rolling Thunder® Inc. since the early nineties and literally worked tirelessly for the POW/MIA cause. One of his most challenging tasks was coordinating the rally and arrival of hundreds of thousands of motorcycles in the Pentagon parking lot on the day of the run. He was fatally ill the morning of the 2010 run but would not relinquish his post | despite the protests of family and friends. Someone said it was on his “bucket list” and he would not have missed it under ANY circumstances.

Art’s van was decorated boldly with the memorable phrase “Dying for freedom isn’t the worst that can happen…being forgotten is!!!” Art Foss embodied the spirit of this phrase and his life’s work is a reflection of that.

In August 1999, Art became a Charter Member and the President of Rolling Thunder® Virginia Chapter 3. Art was dedicated to Never Forgetting the POW/MIAs and an advocate for the needs of today's military veterans and their families. He diligently served as the Senior State Director for Rolling Thunder® Inc. and was instrumental in starting additional Chapters in Virginia and Maryland.

Art was preceded in death by his father, the late Arthur J. Foss of Rochester, New York. Art is survived by his wife, Molly Kay; son, Arthur, Jr., daughters; Michelle (Josh) Morrow and Jamie Rock. Grandchildren; Allie, Autumn, Jason, Brody, Hayley, Kyrstin and Gerard of Woodbridge, VA, Mother, Frances Foss of Rochester, NY, brothers Thomas (Joyce) of Rochester, NY and Steven of Fulton, NY.
