For more than 70 years, the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) has honored America's fallen heroes by placing American flags at grave sites for service members buried at Arlington National Cemetery just prior to the Memorial Day weekend.
A Tomb Sentinel will conduct a ceremony at noon at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Sentinel will place American flags at each of the four crypts to honor all of our nation's fallen heroes.
Flags-in is a time-honored tradition that is reserved for Soldiers of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). The Soldiers conduct this mission annually at Arlington National Cemetery prior to Memorial Day to honor our nation's fallen military heroes.
Within four hours, more than a thousand Old Guard Soldiers will place an American flag one foot in front of, and centered, at more than 280,000 headstones to honor every individual buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Old Guard Soldiers will also place an American flag at the foot of each Columbarium to account for the more than 400,000 interred.
All flags are removed after Memorial Day, before the cemetery opens to the public.

Right after I had taken the photograph of Captain Womack with his three soldiers PNP Gold Star Mother Cindy Kruger, proud Mother of Sgt. Michael G. Hardegree came bye to visit.
Asked Captain Womack a favor, to place a flag at Gold Star Mother Mona Gunn sons headstone, Cherone Louis Gunn. SMSN Gunn was killed when terroist with explosives rammed the USS Cole on October 12, 2000.

I saw this as an opportunity to explain my involvement with Three missing Marines Joseph Nelson Hargrove, Gary Hall and Danny Marshall, left behind during the Mayaguez incidient May 15, 1975. Did not know the General Milley's photographer still had my camera and took this photograph.
Section 60, Arlington National Cemetery Vice President Pence made a visit to honor the families of the fallen by placing a flag at some headstones.
When I saw the opportunity to speak with Vice President Pence asked what has happened to the remains of the three Mayaguez Marines. Joseph Nelson Hargrove, Danny Marshall and Gary Hall that were left behind to die. Last Memorial Day had given this same info to President Trump.
The Vice President's people have gotten back, we had a meeting on August 24, 2018. Now awaiting word back after they investage.
The ‘Helicopter War’ The newly revealed Vietnam Helicopter Pilot and Crewmember Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery on April 18, 2018
The face of the monument reads, “In honored memory of the helicopter pilots and crewmembers who gave the full measure of devotion to their nation in the Vietnam War,” with the dates 1961-1975.
According to the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association – the group that lobbied for the monument – 11,827 helicopters operated in Vietnam and 5,086 of them were destroyed. Nearly 5,000 pilots and crewmembers were killed.
